I am using a 10ch Behringer mixer to stream amateur radio online. I have the amateur radio hooked to the mixer and the mixer hooked to a computer. I am hearing a low humming sound. Sounds like a 60Hz hum. It only makes the sound when the ham radio is turned on. I am using a 1/8" to 1/4" audio cable. What could be causing the hum and how can I get rid of it?

For some reason, I've been a little hellbent on building up a USK (urban survival kit) in case of an emergency. Ive been collecting gear that would sustain me and at most 2 other loved ones of an emergency of epic proportions. Heres my list of stuff I either have or am going to get: NBC rated gas masks, Ham radio, emergency food rations, MRE rations, water pump, iodide pills, hiking packs, guns, LBE vests, 550 cord, waterproof matches, lighters, industrial glowsticks, compass etc Some people say that this kind of behavior isn't normal or that its crazy to do this, its not effecting my personal life or anything- I just got the sudden urge, I feel that its small amount of money compared to everything at stake.

If I wanted to get into EME communications, what is the best band to do it on? 2m, 70cm, 1.2GHz, other? I have tried satellite work and the passes are so short and full of people who only want to trade grids... I like to talk. Which band wold I find the most people on still doing EME in 2010??? What are the popular frequencies? LSB or USB? Thanks, best answer wins the points.
